High definition television HDTV
Perceptibly lossless Video and sound compression may replace the current HDTV transmission standard
Application ready for use
Abstract: Providing a practical High Definition Television to the American public was promised in the early 1990’s but has never been delivered. The reason for this is that big corporate money, big academia, and big Government (FCC) tried to legislate and change the laws of nature by selecting outdated methods based on the outdated Shannon information theory. I spite of early warnings by Klaus Holtz new technologies were suppressed (by demanding huge testing fees) or ignored in favor of old and failed solutions. Ironically, private industry has meanwhile delivered the required large monitors with excellent image quality and the TV cameras for HDTV. It is Government in the FCC, which failed to deliver a useful transmission standard. High Definition television is now only possible via cable or satellite requiring huge bandwidth. To deliver on the original promise the old proposals from the early 1990’s should be revisited and reconsidered. The problems are not technical but political. Perhaps the Autosophy solutions may succeed where government and academia has failed.
Applications: Autosophy HDTV may succeed where current HDTV methods have failed in providing a practical method for HDTV transmission, not only via the airwaves but also via the Internet. A demonstration of Autosophy television is already available.
